DmD 2021 - The region
Welcome to Saint Nectaire
Gateway to the Sancy massif, in the centre of the picturesque Couze Chambon valley and dominated by its Romanesque church, this Remarkable Area shared its name with a cheese (Saint Nectaire PDO) admitted to the table of kings.
Local heritage :
The Romanesque church of Saint - Nectaire
The church of Saint - Nectaire crowns Mount Cornadore and is rightly considered one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Auvergne. It was built under the impetus of the Benedictine monks of the Chaise Dieu in the 12th century (perhaps even in the 11th century, following recent excavations).

The Petrifying Fountains
The hot springs that spring from the centre of the earth give birth to a unique craft in the world: the art of petrification. Spend a timeless moment in the cave, galleries, manufacturing workshops and the Petrifying Fountain.
After an underground escapade into the cave, the hot springs will take you to the manufacturing workshops where the secrets of our family know-how have been preserved for 2 centuries. The Petrifying Fountain with its surprising 14-metre waterfall will reveal to you the ingenuity of man in the artistic exploitation of limestone.

The Volcanoes of Auvergne Regional Natural Park
The largest regional natural park in France! Its particularity? Volcanoes, of course, but not only!
UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Site

The Puy de Dôme
